Honda Civic EK Coilover Install Instructions
Welcome to the 1996–2000 Honda Civic EK coilover installation instructions. This step-by-step guide is designed to make your install process smooth and straightforward. We’ve included the recommended tools, factory torque specs, and key tips to help you get the best results. While this walkthrough highlights the Function and Form Type 2 Coilover kit, the same steps also apply to our Type 1, Type 3, and Type 4 systems for the sixth-generation Civic. For reference, our test vehicle is a Civic EK fitted with 205/50/15 tires on lightweight wheels. Once installation is complete, we recommend scheduling a professional alignment after a short settling period to ensure proper handling and tire wear. A link to our video tutorial is available at the end of this post for those who prefer a visual guide.
The sixth-generation Civic EK, produced from 1996 to 2000, carried forward Honda’s legacy of lightweight design and agile handling while introducing a more refined, modern look. With its double-wishbone suspension at all four corners, the EK offers excellent ride quality and sharp cornering straight from the factory. Its balance of practicality and performance has made it a beloved platform for enthusiasts, from daily drivers to competitive racers. Even decades later, the EK remains one of the most popular Civics to modify, thanks to its durability, strong aftermarket support, and timeless appeal. Installing coilovers not only enhances the stance but also elevates the EK’s already capable handling to the next level.
